Cultural and Nature Experiences
at the tip of Denmark
The Old Town Hall is located in the heart of the city, close to the old malt factory, which today serves as an arts and culture center. This beautiful half-timbered town hall was built in 1789 and is one of Ebeltoft’s many tourist attractions. The building is now part of Museum Østjylland, which features exhibitions on two floors, and is also a popular venue for weddings.
If you’d like to explore the beautiful old town, Adelgade, Overgade, and Nedergade feature many beautifully preserved buildings. On Adelgade, you’ll find Farvergården, which consists of an old dye works, the dyer’s residence, and outbuildings. The buildings have been preserved just as they were when the dye works was in operation about 100 years ago.
A vibrant shopping scene,
unforgettable dining experiences, and glass art
Ebeltoft was granted its market town privileges in 1301 and today embraces both the old and the new. The town, located in the southern part of Djursland, is one of Denmark’s most popular vacation destinations. This is reflected in a rich cultural and commercial life that offers everything from great dining experiences for the whole family featuring local ingredients to exciting shopping opportunities and excellent grocery stores.
Beautifully situated by the cove, you can visit the Ebeltoft Glass Museum, an international museum of modern glass art. At the Ebeltoft Glass Museum, you can explore changing exhibitions year-round. The museum’s acclaimed collection features more than 1,600 works from most parts of the world. Throughout the town, you’ll find shops run by some of Europe’s most talented glass artists, complete with their own workshops, where you can get an up-close look at the craft of glassmaking and its many facets.
