Jazz on the Square 2026 – Free summer concerts in the heart of Ebeltoft

Experience atmospheric jazz under the open sky at Torvet in Ebeltoft. The summer of 2026 will once again feature swinging rhythms, talented musicians, and cozy Saturdays in the historic surroundings of the Old City Hall.

Jazz på Torvet has become a summer tradition in Ebeltoft and attracts locals, vacation home owners, and tourists from all over the country every year. From late June through late August, you can enjoy performances by some of Denmark’s best jazz bands every Saturday—completely free of charge.

Amid half-timbered houses, cobblestone streets, and cozy cafés, the music creates a unique atmosphere that makes Jazz på Torvet one of the summer’s most popular cultural experiences in Djursland.

Cold drinks will be available for purchase during the concerts.
Ebeltoft Handball is in charge of serving beer, wine, and water, and the proceeds go toward both the handball team and ensuring the continued development of Jazz på Torvet.

Rasmus Bøgelund & The New Traditionals

The season opens with an orchestra that blends the classic sounds of the jazz tradition with modern interpretations. With roots in the American songbook and the crooner tradition, the band performs both well-known standards and newer songs in an elegant and engaging style.

The Swing Band

The Swing Band is a talented amateur big band with a deep love for swing music from the 1930s, ’40s, and ’50s. Their repertoire includes music by Count Basie and Duke Ellington, performed with great enthusiasm and a joy for playing.

Doc Houlind’s Real New Orleans All Stars

A strong ensemble of experienced jazz musicians with roots in classic New Orleans jazz and the heyday of revival jazz. The band carries on the legacy of, among others, Papa Bue and the American orchestras that sparked the jazz boom in Europe.

Barfoed’s Jump Band

An energetic orchestra inspired by Louis Jordan, Louis Prima, Ray Charles, and Count Basie. The audience can look forward to jump blues, swing classics, and Danish evergreens performed with humor, a joy of playing, and an authentic sound.

Djurs Swing Band

Djurs Swing Band has its roots in Djursland and plays a diverse repertoire of swing, New Orleans jazz, and Latin rhythms. The band’s motto is simple: The music should swing and reach beyond the edge of the stage.
