The Fantastic Festival & the Opening of the Jakob Martin Strid Universe

June 27–28 at Ree Park and Ebeltoft

Summer in Ebeltoft kicks off with a very special weekend of experiences, as Ree Park Safari and Ebeltoft invite you to The Fantastic Festival. Look forward to two days filled with adventure, imagination, and plenty of Jakob Martin Strid’s beloved universe—both at Ree Park, at Maltfabrikken, and throughout Ebeltoft’s charming streets.

At the same time, we’re celebrating the opening of“Den Lille Dal”—one of Denmark’s largest themed playgrounds, covering more than 2,000 m², created directly from Jakob Martin Strid’s imaginative illustrations. Here, Mimbo Jimbo’s lighthouse rises toward the sky, surrounded by familiar characters and whimsical details from Strid’s magical world.

10:30 a.m.: Official opening of the playground with special guests
12:00 p.m.: (Post)Cheetah feeding
2:00 p.m.: Feeding the favorites
2:30 p.m.: Lars Thiesgaard reads aloud from *Mimbo Jimbo Builds a Lighthouse*
4:00 p.m.: Free ice cream for kids from Fredes Isbutik

Sunday, June 28

10:00 a.m.: The park opens
12:00 p.m.: Predator feeding
2:00 p.m.: Feeding the favorites
2:30 p.m.: Live kids’ rock with Lummerstue

Activities on both days at Ree Park

There are activities and things to do all day long:

The PostGeparden Route —follow the clues, solve fun puzzles, and enter the contest for great prizes.
Land Rover Safari —join us on the savanna and get up close to the animals.
America Express —hop on board and see bears, wolves, and bison.
Minilandrover Offroad —even the littlest ones can get behind the wheel and try their hand at a safari adventure.
Face Painting – Ree Parks’ tutorials transform children into their favorite animals or characters from Strid’s universe.

The library offers creative activities, a search for Grandma’s dentures, and a visit to Mustafa’s Kiosk.
The Foundry displays original works by Jakob Martin Strid and tells the story of the man behind the books.
Meet Ree Park’s guides, who are ready to provide information and lead fun activities.

At 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Teater Fantast will perform its critically acclaimed production of *The Little Frog*.

Experiences in the Streets of Ebeltoft

All weekend long, you can go on a treasure hunt through Ebeltoft’s charming streets in the company of Mimbo Jimbo, Mumbo Jumbo, Baba Yaga, and the other beloved characters from Jakob Martin Strid’s universe. Solve puzzles, explore the town, and see if you can find the hidden treasure.

Bog & Idé is stocking its store with Jakob Martin Strid’s books at special festival prices.
The stores at Grisetorvet are inviting children on a safari with beautiful Schleich animals as prizes.
